Public Event
Wed, Mar 19 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM CDT
About this event:
Join us at this one-of-a-kind dementia conference, traversing through the stages of dementia - early, middle, and late - and how to navigate these stages, whether you are a caregiver and/or professional in this industry.
LaVon Lenaway, MA, DCS, DCSCT, owner of Dragonfly Senior Services, will educate on navigating the early stages of dementia and how to obtain a neuropsych evaluation, bring together a treatment team to support the person living with dementia and their family, and next steps on services that should be set up to support them in order to promote their independence for as long as possible.
Then, Connie Catalano, Sales Specialist and a seasonsed marketing force, will provide information on navigating finding placement for the person living dementia when that time comes, possibly in the middle stages of dementia. Learn how to connect with the person and the family on securing placement. From the family's perspective on what questions to ask when touring to the marketing liaison's perspective on how to present your offerings that resonates with the person's and family's needs.
Lastly, Dr. Jennifer Stelter, PsyD, DCS, DCSCT, owner of the Dementia Connection Institute, Johns Hopkins University author, and creator of the Dementia Connection Model, will facilitate a workshop in learning about evidenced-based, sensory tools in promoting the best quality of life in the later stages of dementia. Walk away with a list of tools you can put in that caregiver toolbox!
